I always feel bad talking to my friends about my Mom. It makes me uncomfortable. I sometimes even try to change the subject. You see, no one's mom can compare to my mom. When I talk about her it is painfully obvious that she is the best in every way. I don't want them thinking their life is okay and then realize that they have been missing out on having the most extraordinarily kind, generous, beautiful, loving, smart, honest, fun, compassionate woman in the world to raise them. I see the look in their eyes as they make a mental comparison. Don't do it! I scream in my head. It will only cause you pain. So, only a few close friends of mine know the truth. The rest I let live in their pleasant reality.
I love you Mom! Happy Birthday!

That is exactly how I feel when talking about Mom to others. Almost like, sorry you were raised in hug & kisses poverty compared to my uber richness. Maybe you can break the cycle? The pictures are wonderful too Ali! We all love you Mom!
SOOOO true!! It is a known fact that Mom is the best of all.....I read it in the Guinness Book of World records. She wins for nicest, smartest, prettiest, kindest and most patient.
That's so funny! You guys feel about your mom the *exact* same way I feel about my Aunt Alice! She is just the BEST!
Tell her I said Happy Birthday!
P.S. LOVE those pictures!
Thanks so much. You are way too kind, but I do love your blog! Love, Mom
I love the pictures of her holding babies. she does it so naturally and with a look on her face like she knows she is holding the most precious thing on earth. she's a pro with children, that's for sure.
Your mother will be translated. I truly believe that. She would so happily give up anything to anyone at anytime. We adore you Alice!
I love to see pictures!! What a nice tribute to your mother! I am so glad to know YOU!! Have a fantastic day!!!
It's true. Aunt Alice is FABULOUS.
Love you, Aunt Alice!!!!
Wonderful post, Ali!
Alison, I read this post awhile ago, but didn't comment. I want to tell you though, that I think that is the sweetest thing I have ever seen someone do about their Mom. Honestly!! Now I know why you change the subject every time we talk about our Mom's.........j/k. Anyway, I love you and just so you know, I am positive that your children will grow up and talk about you in the exact same way!!
Aww, I sure love Alice too. She is so wonderful!
