Chancelor just had his first birthday. It has been the best year getting to know him. We all adore him. The girls STILL fight over him. He is so charming, it just gets worse as he gets older. They are the first to run into his room and play with him each morning. He thinks they are rock stars.
His dimples kill us. We would do almost anything for his smiles. He gives around the neck bear hugs and open mouthed "ahhh" kisses. He is truly perfect right now. No tantrums, no demands or melt-downs. I want to freeze him. I know there are wonderful things about every age... but my seven year old doesn't let me blow raspberries anymore on her tummy and and my four year old doesn't laugh out loud when I raise my eyebrows.
Marshall says I do this with each one. I become completely smitten. Totally head over heels in love. Each night I come downstairs and say "they are the sweetest kid ever, the very best, I am going to die from how much I love them, no child has ever been this wonderful!" He nods his head and reminds me that I said the exact same things about Camryn and Savannah. I don't love my older kids less. The older kids I love with a passion too. But it is a familiar passion that gets stronger as they grow into these articulate, strong, loving human beings.
With my babies it is more like young love. No expectations, no conflict, no compromise, no baggage. Just constant affection and complete trust, head over heels new love.
I enjoy the journey with each one. I just wish the journey would slow down.

Great sentiments. I cannot believe he is already a year old. The big boys (Mike and Marsh) have had their "advanced" degrees for one year - unbelievable!!
Alison, that was the sweetest thing that you wrote. I love reading your blog. You are so good at writing. He is such a handsome little sweetheart. I love him so much. I know exactly what you are talking about with the love that you have for them, expecially at this age. He is so precious and I am so happy that you guys have him. Maddox is lucky to have such a great little friend. Happy Birthday Chance! I wish you would have had a party so we could have come and gush over him!!! We need to bring him a surprise! Can't wait to come and see you and the house.

Wow, a year already! Time flies. He is such a cutie and the girls are adorable. I miss you and think of you often. Hope all is well.
